California Life Insurance Policies

This course is designed to meet the requirement in Section 1749.81 of the California Insurance Code. This new section requires all life agents licensed on or after January 1, 2024 and who sell life insurance policies (excluding those selling zero-cash-value term life policies) to complete four hours of training before soliciting individual consumers.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this four-hour course, the student should be able to:
• Identify and describe key features of whole life, variable life, non-variable universal, and variable universal life insurance, as well as modified endowment contracts (MECs), individual endowment, and funeral life insurance;
• Discuss the characteristics and functions of disability benefits in life insurance policies;
• Describe and discuss the provisions and operations of life insurance policies; and
• Discuss the taxation life insurance policies, including how death benefits are taxed when a contract does not meet the definition of life insurance, the purpose and function of tax deferrals, and living benefits taxation.
