General Requirements

This is a summary of the Continuing Education Requirements that apply to the vast majority of Agents:

A Licensee shall be Required to meet Continuing Education Requirements by the End of the Licensee’s Birth Month after being licensed 24 months, and every two years thereafter.

• Agents Licensed 6 or More Years : 20 Total Credits / 4 Credits Must Be in “Florida Law Update” Specific to Line of License
• Agents Licensed Less than 6 Years: 24 Total Credits / 4 Credits Must Be in “Florida Law Update” Specific to Line of License
• 4 of Your Credit Hours Must Be Approved for Florida Law Update and Approved Specific to Your Line of Licensing.
• The Remaining Course Requirements (16 or 20 credits) are “Elective” and can be taken in Any Subject Matter as long as they are State Approved.

Multiple Lines Licensed Agents

• If you hold Multiple Lines of Licensing (Ex. Life and General Lines), the Total Hours Required is the same as if you are Single Lines Licensed. You Do Not Need to Take More than 24 Hours, regardless of how many lines you are licensed.
• If more than one line of licensing is held, only one 4 Hour Course must be completed in any of the lines held.

Special Training Requirements

• • Flood Training: Agents who sell Flood Insurance must complete a one-time, 3 Hour Continuing Education course related to NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program) prior to selling.

 

• Long Term Care: An agent may not sell, solicit or negotiate Long-Term Care Insurance unless the individual has completed an initial 8 Hour Long Term Care training course. Agents must also complete ongoing training consisting of a 4 Hour Long Term Care training course every compliance period following.
