All of our Mississippi Insurance Continuing Education courses are delivered in electronic format and can be viewed and completed on any mobile device. This includes chapter quizzes and final exams which are scored immediately upon completion. Each chapter is followed by a short chapter quiz which must be passed with a score of 70% or better in order to proceed to the next chapter. Upon completion of all chapter quizzes, you will be presented with the Final Exam which requires a passing grade of 70%. All quizzes and the Final Exam can be taken as many times as necessary until you pass. You have up to one year from the course purchase date to complete your courses.

Upon successful passage of each Final Exam your credit hours earned will be reported directly to your State regulator. The date and time of completion of your course is based on the specific time zone in which you completed the course.

Successfully completing a course will earn you a Certificate of Completion. Certificates of completion are immediately available on the My Courses page. Simply locate the completed final exam and click on the certificate icon found near the right side of the page. Please check all the information displayed on your certificate for accuracy. Inaccuracies on your certificate could represent inaccuracies in your BetterCE profile which could lead to reporting delays. If you feel your certificate is inaccurate in any way, please contact the BetterCE support team at support@betterce.info or call us at 1-888-501-7330.

General Requirements

Mississippi Major Lines Insurance licensed more than eighteen (18) months must complete 24 credit hours of state approved continuing education every 2 years prior to their license expiration date. Of the 24 credits required, a minimum of 3 credits must be done in the category of Ethics Training. Agents licensed 13-18 months must complete 12 credits of continuing education. Expiration dates occur on the last day of the licensees birth month, every 2 years.

Major Lines licenses include:

  • Life, Accident and Sickness
  • Property and Casualty
  • Personal Lines

Agents licensed in multiple major lines (Property and Life, for example) are only required to meet the same requirements as agents with single lines of licensing. In other words: the maximum number of credits you need to earn is 24 or 12 – regardless of how many license lines of authority you hold.

Licensees must take courses that are approved for their specific line of license. For example, agents who hold a Life Insurance license must take courses approved for that line of license. Agents with multiple lines of licenses (ex. Life and Property), can take all of their credits in one of their license types, or a combination of courses approved for their licenses types. Keep in mind that Ethics counts for every license type.

Licenses are eligible for renewal when:

  1. all CE Requirements have been completed
  2. when the licensee is within 90 days of their license expiration date

Licenses can be renewed online through NIPR.com, or Sircon. The renewal fee is $100, regardless of the number of licenses you hold.

Renewal applications will not be made available until all CE Requirements have been completed. We strongly encourage agents to complete their CE requirements at least 2 days in advance of their license expiration date so that their renewal application is available in time to renew their license.

Keep in mind that Agents must still submit a renewal application each renewal period.

Inactive Agents

Agents who have declared their license as inactive must renew their license but are exempt from completing CE Requirements. Inactive status is when you are not selling, negotiating,or soliciting insurance, but may receive renewal commissions. To declare a license inactive, the agent must write the words “put on non-active status” on the license renewal form and submit the appropriate renewal fee to keep the license current. This must be repeated each license period you are renewing.

Any excess credits earned during the 2 year renewal period will not be carried over to the next renewal period.

Late Renewal and Reinstatements

There is no grace period or late renewal allowed for Mississippi insurance agents who fail to renew prior to their license expiration date. Licenses will be considered inactive and prohibited from conducting insurance business if their CE Requirements and Renewal Application are not completed on or before the license expiration date. Agents can reinstate their license for up to 1 year past the license expiration date. To do so, they must complete any outstanding CE requirements, and pay the renewal fee of $100, plus a fine of $50.
