This course represents 3 Credit Hours of State Certified Continuing Education Ethics Training.

Ethics and Unfair Insurance Practices

This course provides insurance professionals with the knowledge and skills required to conduct their professional activities in compliance with the most commonly adopted regulatory ethical standards. Our expert instructor will provide a detailed (but always engaging and entertaining) analysis of the Unfair Trade and Claims Practices Models Acts, as developed and adopted by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). Participants will learn critical skills for identifying and avoiding ethical mishaps and the importance adhering to ethical thinking and behaviors.

Topics Include:

  • How the changing culture and access to information creates vulnerabilities for consumers.
  • How to go through the process of evaluating a situation, determining if there are ethical issues, reviewing the facts, evaluating the options and choosing an outcome that will satisfy all parties involved.
  • Recognizing questionable or unethical behavior.
  • Choosing how to proceed in difficult situations to obtain a positive outcome.
